George Clooney is The American

Actor George Clooney graces the silver screen again. His latest movie, The American, is now playing nationwide. In the movie directed by Anton Corbijn, Clooney stars as an assassin whose last job didn’t end so well. When he goes to the Italian countryside to wait for his next – and last – assignment, he befriends a priest (Paolo Bonacelli) and starts a romance with a woman (Violante Placido). But, letting his guard down could be a big mistake for the assassin.

George Clooney has consistently put out great performances the past few years. Michael Clayton is a favorite, with a performance that should have been an Oscar win for Clooney. He did win the Oscar for his performance in Syriana though. Even his funny, over-the-top performances in quirky movies like Burn After Reading and Men Who Stare at Goats were fun to watch.

The American is produced by Focus Features and by Smoke House, the production company co-owned by Clooney and his pal, Grant Heslov.
